Varicha Sheera

We normally make Sooji Sheera when we crave for sweets. It's very easy and quick. 

But if you are bored of having the same dish, you can try this Varicha Sheera which you can also have during Upvas. 

Shravan is coming and you need varieties for every week then do try this different but tasty dish. Its healthy and stomach filling as well.


Cooking Time:
15 Minutes

Ingredients
  • 1 cup Samo Rice, Washed
  • 1 cup Ghee
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 tsp Raisins
  • 3 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Saffron
  •  7-8 Almonds, chopped

Recipe
  1. Heat ghee in a pan. 
  2. Add samo rice to this and saute for 5 minutes.
  3. Add warm milk and cook till the rice is cooked properly. Samo rice takes time to cook. Allow enough time to cook.
  4. When the milk is boiled, add saffron strands and cover the pan.
  5. Add almonds, sugar, raisins and mix well.
  6. Cover it and let it cook till it gets thicken.
  7. Stir continuously so that it does not stick to the bottom.
  8. Add cardamom powder and stir.
  9. Turn off the gas and serve the sheera when it is hot. 
Note - You can add jaggery instead of sugar.
