Veg Momos

Veg momos, looks same like Sweet Modal but the stuffing is something different. Its spicy and made with the combination of different vegetables. These days, momos are getting more popular in India.
Momos can be made either steaming or deep frying.

I ate these delicious momos at my brother's house and then tried at home. It turned out amazing. Dip in Nutty Schezwan Chutney

  • 150 gm Maida
  • 100 gm cabbage
  • 1/2 carrot, grated
  • 1 Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1/3 cup Spring Onion
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1 tsp Soy Sauce
  • Salt as per taste
  • 2 Green Chilli, chopped
  • 4 Garlic Cloves, Chopped
  • Oil For Deep Frying
  1. Mix maida and salt. Add few drops of oil and combine well.
  2. Add water little at a time and start kneading the dough.
  3. Make a smooth dough, cover and rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in  a pan.
  5. Add garlic cloves and green chili to the pan. Saute for couple of minutes.
  6. Add chopped onion and saute for 2 minutes.
  7. Add carrot and cabbage. Mix properly and fry for another minute.
  8. Add spring onion, fry for 2 seconds and turn off the gas.
  9. Let the mixture cool.
  10. Once it is cool, add soy sauce, salt and black pepper powder. Mix well.
  11. Transfer the mixture to the bowl.
  12. Stuffing is ready.
  13. Take out the dough. Knead it again and make small balls out of it.
  14. Take one ball and roll it like a puri.
  15. Put 2 tsp the stuffing at the center.
  16. Apply water at the edges and fold it like a Modak.
  17. Likewise, make all the momos.
  18. Now we need to steam the momos.
  19. Grease a pan with some oil.
  20. Place all the momos in this pan.
  21. Pout Idli Pot with enough water at the base.
  22. When water starts to boil, keep the momos pan inside Idli pot carefully.
  23. Cover the pot and let it cook for 10 minutes.
  24. Momos are ready to serve.
