Carrot Dhokla

Making soft, light, spongy dhokla is an art. Addition of carrot makes it healthy breakfast or snack dish.  Try this easy carrot dhokla recipe and let us know your feedback.

Time To Cook : 45 - 50 minutes

Ingredients : 
  • 2 cup grated Carrot
  • 1  cup harbara dal
  • 1/2 cup moong dal
  • 1/4 urad dal
  • 4-5 green chillies
  • ginger 
  • lemon juice
  • turmeric
  • sugar
  • cumin powder
  • 1/2 Sodium Carbonate 
  • cilantro
Recipe :
  1. Soak all the dals for 1/2 - 1 hour in water and grind them in mixer.
  2. Add grated carrot, green chillies, ginger, salt, lemon juice, turmeric, sugar, cumin powder and mix well to make a smooth batter. The batter should be of thick consistency.
  3. Make two equal parts of the batter and  on one part pour 1/2 tsp sodium carbonate and hot oil.
  4. Grease a baking dish with oil and pour the batter.
  5. Keep the baking dish in steamer and cook for 15-20 minutes or till done.
  6. Cut the dhokla into cubes.
  7. Heat little in a pan and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. allow to splutter. Remove from heat and pour on dhoklas. 
  8. Garnish with cilantro and serve with tomato ketchup or green chutney. 
  9. Make the dhoklas in same way with other part of the batter.
