Oven Baked Tandoori Roti

Is tandoor essential to make tandoori roti? If you think yes, then read the below recipe. Oven made tandoori roti tastes same like tandoor made roti. Try this roti and serve hot with gravy.

Cooking Time: 1 - 1/2 hour
Servings: 4

Ingredients:
  • 2 cup whole-wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup maida
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp oil
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • water
  • 2 tsp ghee
  • 1/2 cup milk
Recipe:
  1. Combine flour, maida and baking powder and sieve it.
  2. Now add salt, milk, curd and oil and knead well.
  3. Add water little at a time to become a smooth dough.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth for 1/2 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees so that baking tray will get enough hot.
  6. Now turn the oven to high broil.
  7. Make equal balls out of the dough.
  8. Spread some dry flour on rolling surface and roll out each ball into a thick roti.
  9. Apply little water to both the sides of the roti. And put the roti in oven.
  10. Likewise we can cook 2-3 rotis at a time.
  11. Cook the roti for 1 - 2 minutes or till it becomes golden brown.
  12. Flip to another side and cook again.
  13. Take the roti out of the oven and apply some ghee on it.
  14. Make rest of the rotis like the same way.
  15. Before putting next batch of rotis wait for 2-3 minutes so that the oven will reheat.
  16. Serve hot Tandoori Roti with Mutton Or Fish Gravy.
