Methi, Palak, Maka Thepla

Thepla is a very popular food in Gujarat. This is a very healthy type of snack for your kid. Serve hot theplas with chilled curd. Read the recipe of veg thepla and try it for your kids. You will be amazed at how easily it can be done at home.

Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 3-4

  • 1/2 cup Methi (Fenugreek) Leaves
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 2-3 green chillies, crushed
  • 1/2 tsp carom seeds
  • red chilli powder to taste
  • 2 cups cornflour
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • salt to taste
  • oil as needed
  1. Pluck the methi (fenugreek) leaves and spinach from stem, rinse very well and then chop it.
  2. In a flat vessel bowl, mix all the ingredients including Methi and spinach leaves. 
  3. Start kneading the mixture without water first. Slowly add lukewarm water as required.
  4. Add 1 tsp of oil and knead it tightly. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Make medium sized ball from the dough.
  6. On a plastic bag, roll out each ball gently with hands (just we do with bhakri)
  7. Heat a griddle and place the thepla on the griddle.
  8. When one side is half cooked, flip it.
  9. Apply some oil on the half cooked side and flip it again. 
  10. Again apply some oil on the second side. Flip twice.
  11. When evenly roasted remove it from griddle.
  12. Serve hot applying ghee on the top with curd.
